 Modern

India is being introduced to new customs and its trying to modernize itself. Indians have forgotten their culture and what their religion is. People in America go to temple more often than the people in India. Bollywood has changed a lot too; it went from religious movies to more modern movies. This also brought a lot of change in people of India.

Modern dancing to Indian music

This video is from one of the Indian bands called Dnoax. In this video you can notice that there are different ethnicities and different people. But everyone is treated equally. There is a lot of hip-hop culture in this video. The way everyone is dressed is not cultural and the break dancing is not cultural either. Most of the song is hip-hop and is in english, some of it is in the main language Hindi.

 Traditional

Traditional Bollywood Song

This is a video of a song from the bollywood movie Jodha Akbar. This movie is about the Mughals and the Rajputs. As you can see the people of the city are serving and entertaining the king in his kingdom. In this video everyone is dressed up traditionally and there is a difference between Hindus and Muslims. The two religions are treated differently and dress differently. The song is partly Hindi, some Arabic, and Sanskrit.

Conclusion

There is a lot of difference between the two videos and the different beliefs of the people. The language, the dressing, the dance and the music. The first video is mostly western and says we all are equal. The second video says we are different and we have different beliefs and cultures based on the movie. This shows the difference between modern and traditional India.

 Dialogue

Dad: Hey son are you going to come do a prayer with me? It will better your karma.

Son: Aw, come on dad I am going out to see the new Bollywood movie Dhoom 2. It has great dancing and it has good songs.

Dad: Why don’t you go to the new movie Joda Akbar I heard that it is a great movie of history.

Son: That movie?? But all my friends told me that it was really boring and it was about samsara, dharma and karma, that is really boring, I want to go see Hrithik Roshan dancing to Dhoom again. This is the modern times, not old Indian times, I want to go see something new, I don’t want to see some old history movie about people doing their duty and how they want to be released out of the samsara cycle.

Dad: Fine son, go do what you want, but this is no help to your karma.

Son: Come on dad come to the modern world for once; see the new dancing, the new Bollywood movies, and the new music.

Dad: But how is this going to help anything, you should follow your tradition.

Son: Daaaaad (groaning) arghh I’m leaving to go watch the movie.
